Olathe Parks and Recreation Host Annual Teen Bash at the Olathe Community Center on Tuesday, Jan. 3

The Olathe Parks and Recreation and the Olathe Communities that Care Coalition will host the annual Teen Bash on Tuesday, Jan. 3, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Olathe Community Center, 1205 E. Kansas City Rd.  The free event for teens will feature swimming, gym time, refreshments, and prizes. 

Parents are invited to stay and enjoy refreshments and hear from local experts in the area of alcohol and drug prevention from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Following the presentation, parents can visit with Olathe Police Department officers during the Coffee with a Cop program

Admission to the event is a donation of two non-perishable items.  Registration is required online, by phone at 913-971-8563, or in person at the Olathe Community Center. The registration code 14014.

It looks like the Kansas City Royals turned things around at the end of the regular season and are heading into the playoffs on a winning streak. 

If you're in Kansas City you have probably started seeing the playoff decorations dotting the city and playoff gear getting stocked at the stores.  

Have you noticed the fountains turning blue in Kansas City?

The party starts at the K on Tuesday afternoon with a pep rally. Then the playoffs start for the Royals on Thursday. Here is the schedule. 

Pep Rally at the K: Gates open at 11:15. News conference on the CrownVision starts at 11:45 a.m. and then the pep rally starts at 12:15 p.m.

Game 1: Thursday, October 8 (AL Wild Card @ Royals)

Game 2: Friday, October 9 (AL Wild Card @ Royals)

Game 3: Sunday, October 11 (Royals @ AL Wild Card)

Game 4 (if necessary): Monday, October 12 (Royals @ AL Wild Card)

Game 5 (if necessary): Wednesday, October 14 (AL Wild Card @ Royals)
